Jackie will guide you through a variety of body specific classes, allowing you to dive deep and explore yourSelf. Move through the body, bringing in strength and openness as we focus on specific areas. These playful, yet rewarding classes will also include; centering, pranayama, alignment and body awareness, as well as a dash of philosophy, and just the right amount of relaxation, to leave you feeling calm yet rejuvenated. Come warm up with us – start your week the right way!
Due to our hectic, stress-driven lives, we tend to close up our hearts, both on a physical and emotional level. In this class we will work with the strength and flexibility of our shoulders, and open up our hearts through various postures, using props and our own bodies!
Allow yourself to let go and surrender in this class. We will create some sweet space in our spines and work with lengthening our tight hamstrings.
Connecting breath and movement, we will spend this class coming in and out of postures, bringing in spinal twists to ease discomfort in the back, help improve digestion, and keep us alert for the duration of our practice!
While focusing on the side body, we will lengthen and strengthen the muscles between the ribs and the pelvis, while opening our lungs to improve breathing capacity.
Bringing in breath and focus, we will work with balance in various postures to cultivate the stillness that sits within us.
By opening our hips, we allow ourselves to feel lighter and more open. They can help us get in and out of other postures that we may be struggling with as well. In this class we will be working with the flexibility and strength of our hips, with nice long, deep holds!
By using our Bandhas, we are incorporating our core muscles throughout every Yoga class. In this class, our primary focus will be on the Bandhas. Our secondary focus will be using our breath of course, to hold specific core strengthening postures, then work with lengthening and opening the abdominal and lower back muscles.
This class will be a surprise combination of what we have worked with thus far! However, this is will be Yang/Yin class. An active first half of the class, involving standing postures and movement, and a relaxing second half; coming into long, deep holds in seated and reclined postures
General Terms: This is a six month commitment. You agree to pay $85.00 for each of the six months of this contract. Your first payment will include a prorated month and a full month. Payment due dates are the 20th of each month. (EX: If you sign up Jan 15th, you will be prorated the 4 days ($11.15) and pay $85 for your first full month. Then it’s simply $85/month) After the six month commitment is reached, your account automatically renews on a month-to-month basis at $85.00 each month unless a 30 day notice is given to cancel the account. First payment is via Credit Card. You can simply change to a Checking/Savings/Debit card for future payments. We will be converting to Check Draft only in Summer 2017. Exceptions available!
Locks Your Price in!: As of Jan 2017, We don’t foresee any price increases but membership prices are subject to change. However, you will be locked in for your 6 months if there is, no matter when you start! In the event of a change in membership price, members will be notified via email of any price increase to their monthly memberships and given the opportunity to cancel if they wish, without further charges and/or fees.
Default and Late Payments: A default occurs when any payment due under this agreement is more than ten days late. Should a monthly payment become more than ten days late, you will be charged a late fee of $35. An additional service fee will be assessed for any payment returned for insufficient funds or any other reason. That cost is the cost passed on to us by our merchant processor. These fees will be charged to your credit card on file.
Clearly indicate “Membership Change,” “Membership Freeze or “Membership Cancellation,” as subject heading of email to our studio email on our Contact page. In turn, Grounded by Yoga will send a confirmation via email after the changes have been made to the account. Member agrees that it could take up to 3 business days to receive a response from Grounded by Yoga. Once member has submitted an email request for any changes to membership, it is the member’s responsibility to ensure that Grounded by Yoga has responded to the same email account to confirm processing the request. We generally respond in the same day.
Miscellaneous: Class schedule is subject to change without notice or close due to winter storms and holidays. Please check our website for changes, additions and/or cancellations. Memberships cannot be refunded, transferred, exchanged, shared or early cancelled.
Beginners will attend a series of consecutive classes with the same instructor. A comprehensive program discussing the Yamas, Niyamas (philosophy), Asana (postures), Pratayahara (lessening the senses) and Pranayama (conscious energy regulation through breathing trechniques). Physical aspects of the class are focused on the use of the Bandhas (locks) in the body as well as proper spinal alignment. This will create a foundation for the student to then decide to advance deeper into the process of yoga by taking Gentle Class, Meditation Classes or Kundalini Yoga or staying more external and physical focused by attending Levels 1-4 and Mixed Level classes.Lets us explain further:
No upper body strength work (IE: downward dog, vasisthasana etc) soft opening and discovery of the body. Less standing poses. Exploration of alternate pranayamas along with bandha work. Use of Dharana (focus), and possibly Dhyana (Meditation) techniques are highlighted. All factors of Beginners series are implemented as well
All of the above plus upper body Strength work is introduced, along with more standing postures. Longer holds than Gentle Yoga.
Adding to Level 1 are even longer holds in the posture and the introduction of binds, full balancing inversions, intricate balance and flexibility postures and perhaps a heated room (this will be posted if the room is hot). These levels are often called Mixed Level classes so that each student can explore their physical nature at their own pace.
Advanced Yoga Practices are for the serious student who views Yoga as it is truly meant to be, spiritual and transcending.
Yoga Teacher Training is offered to those that are active in a Samyama practice and are then ready to share! Without such wisdom of the mind, I would suggest first entering our AYP classes first. Offered each winter/spring. Contact the Teacher Training Director, Sandy Hicks.

GBY has also included freeze options on our month to month unlimited as well as added 3 extra weeks in 10 packs to allow for vacations, sickness, closings).
