My introduction to the world of yoga was at age 14, when I decided to borrow an instructional DVD from the library after school one day. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I quickly fell in love with hatha yoga. I continued expanding my physical posture practice by seeking out local classes, but struggled to find a studio that I truly connected with, as yoga was about so much more than just a workout for me. Practicing hatha yoga allowed me to feel completely relaxed, and helped me to recognize many truths about myself. In time my practice became more about connected-ness, and less about the physicality of the postures. In summer 2017 I was offered an opportunity to deepen my understanding of yoga by completing Yoga Teacher Training with Sandy at Grounded by Yoga. I have always felt compelled to help others heal, leading me to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and work in the addictions recovery field. For me, teaching yoga is another way to help others on their journeys, offering support and guidance to facilitate positive change and personal growth.
