Why Interdisciplinary Yoga®?

tt8-312x180A broad and rich understanding that includes not only poses and breathing, but philosophy, yoga therapeutics, yoga anatomy and energetics, as well as mudra, mantras, and more. The staff at Grounded By Yoga honors all Yoga lineages. Each tradition (Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Sivananda, etc.) has something profound to offer.

An Interdisciplinary Yoga® teacher can pul

l tools needed from many lineages to accommodate students of all levels and abilities. Your lead director, Sandy Hicks has 40 years experience in Meditation & Yoga and continues to deepen her knowledge nationally and internationally with renowned teachers.

I don’t want to teach yoga, is this the right program for me?

tt3-213x111Many yoga practitioners enter yoga trainings with no intention of teaching, for it is an opportunity to deepen and broaden your knowledge and experience yoga in a way you simply cannot do in regular classes.

Do I physically need to be able to….

Forget that concern, this program is open to non-yoga students as well. The yoga teacher training modules serve to educate health professionals, yoga instructors, yoga students or anyone with an interest in the science of yoga. (However, to become a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance, a regular yoga practice is required prior to your training)

Teaacher Training YogaWhat lineages, paths and styles will I be able to learn about and explore?

Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Kundalini. Raja, Bhakti and Jnanu.  Certified professionals dedicated to each lineage will be part of your training faculty, bringing you authentic delivery and integrity to your curriculum.

Can u explain some of the specifics we will all be learning?

What we learn can differ from person to person. Not only is this a

cademically beneficial, you can expect your own transformation. Click here for general & specific syllabus details.

Are there any pre-requisites?

tt9-310x168A high degree of self-motivation is required for all aspects of the course. Training to be a yoga teacher requires dedication and faith in the process of yoga. If you do not have a current asana practice, but are simply interested in deepening your knowledge, you may apply as well and will receive a special certificate. The practice and teaching of yoga demand a high degree of self-discipline and purity. To ensure the success of the program, participants are required to attend all spiritual activities, meditation sessions, lectures and asana classes.

Our staff are professionally certified and recognized teachers and are highly skilled and experienced in the field of yoga education: Sandy Hicks, E-RYT, Wendy Stoddard CYT, Luc Watelet RYT 200, Ted D. Barnett, M.D.; Carol Barnett, Ph.D., J.D.
